Tip-giving in the hospitality industry is noble, but we as guests are confused as housekeepers working inside our room when we are away. So how should we tip them?
Here are some tricks you can try on your next stay!
1. Place your tip above in the correct places.
Housekeepers are cleaning your room thoroughly, and the discreet places that they will also look for are under the pillow. Placing your tip upon the pillow is also acceptable. Or you can put it in one of the most seen and safe places, which is under the telephone.
Do not place your tip other than those places. Housekeepers are prohibited to take money except for mentioned locations.
2. Leave a short message or a memo to clarify that it is for them.
If you have put your tip on the mentioned places but still have doubt that they won’t take it, you can leave a short message above your tip. Writing ‘for housekeepers’ or simply writing ‘tip’ will do just fine.
3. If you are staying for quite a while, leave it through the receptionist.
Are you staying for a while for a booked and busy schedule? You can simply leave your tip to the receptionist and say it’s for the housekeepers for your room.
There are many ways to express gratitude, so don’t be confused and hesitate to give thanks to the housekeepers during your stay.
